What happens if you take your thyroid medication the wrong way? Well, simply put, it won't do its job and you won't feel any better. Sounds easy, right? Well, you'd probably be surprised to know that most thyroid patients are actually taking it incorrectly. And, as a result, they aren't getting the benefits that they are looking for like hair growth, weight loss, a better metabolism, and more.
Here are some tips to make sure you're taking your thyroid medication correctly:
Tip 1. Take your thyroid medication either first thing in the morning or right before bed.
Tip 2. Take your medication at least 2 hours away from food (either before or after).
Tip 3. Take your medication at the same time each and every day.
Tip 4. Do get your thyroid labs checked regularly and make adjustments as needed.
Tip 5. Never take supplements at the same time as your thyroid medication.
Tip 6. If you are taking calcium or iron wait 4 hours before taking thyroid medication.
Tip 7. Do not take your thyroid medication with coffee.
Following these simple tips will help your thyroid medication work more effectively which means you will feel better.
