While *Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) does not prevent accidents**, it plays a crucial role in **minimizing injuries* in hazardous work environments like *drilling and workover operations**. It is the **responsibility of the Rig Operator* to provide and enforce the use of *approved PPE* at all times to ensure worker safety.

*Mandatory PPE for All Personnel:*
✅ *Protective Headgear* – Hard hats meeting ANSI Z89.1 standards must be worn at all times. *Metal hard hats are strictly prohibited.*
✅ *Eye Protection* – Safety glasses with side protection, meeting **ANSI Z87.1 standards**, are mandatory.
✅ *Specialized Eye Protection* – Goggles, face shields, or other protective gear must be used when handling materials that can cause **eye injuries, irritation, flying debris, heat rays, or radiation exposure**.
✅ *Safety Boots* – **Steel-toe boots or shoes**, compliant with **ASTM F2412-11 & F2413-11 standards**, are required for all personnel on drilling and workover sites.
✅ *Protective Clothing* – Personnel handling *acids, caustics, or hazardous substances* must wear **suitable protective clothing and respiratory protection**.
✅ *Hearing Protection* – If noise levels exceed *85 dBA**, ear protection such as **earmuffs or earplugs* must be worn. *Warning signs must be posted in high-noise areas.*

*Emergency & Hygiene Measures:*
🚿 If a worker’s clothing or skin becomes contaminated with **flammable or harmful substances**, they must:
🔹 *Immediately use a safety shower* before removing contaminated clothing.
🔹 *Thoroughly wash affected body areas* to prevent injuries.
🔹 *Decontaminate clothing before reuse.*

*PPE Maintenance & Compliance:*
🔸 *All PPE must be kept in sanitary condition* and maintained for proper functionality.
🔸 *Rig Operators and Service Companies must post warning signs* in areas requiring PPE.
🔸 *Contractors must provide prescription safety glasses* for employees who wear corrective lenses.
