Vaikuntavasa Perumal Temple, Uttiramerur | Pallavas | Kudavolai democratic election system of Cholas

Описание к видео Vaikuntavasa Perumal Temple, Uttiramerur | Pallavas | Kudavolai democratic election system of Cholas

Sundaravaradaraja Perumal Temple or Vaikuntavasa perumal temple, Uttiramerur is devoted to Bhagwan Vishnu in the form of Sundara Varadaraja Perumal and Devi Lakshmi in the form of Anandavalli Thayar.

The temple was built by Pallava kings around 750 AD and was later developed by Cholas, Vijaynagara kings and Nayakars.

Another interesting fact is that the process of democratically electing the local representatives through a system called Kudavolai during the Chola regime is also documented in the inscriptions that are found in the nearby Vaikunta Perumal Temple in Uttiramerur.
