This Alice Comedies entry was released on July 25, 1927. The plot depicts Alice and her crew sailing in the sea. Despite the film's name, most of the cartoon features a mouse at work, with the ship's chef in command. Only the ending features Alice harpooning a whale. At this time, the Alice Comedies no longer focused on mainly Alice, but now Julius or others. The cartoon is also seemingly similiar to Steamboat Willie, in which Mickey Mouse is also in the command of a cat (Pete). When the last Alice entry was completed, Disney created a new character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and then the world-famous Mickey Mouse. In the 1930s, Raytone Pictures acquired some of the Alice Comedy catalog, and added sound to them, attempting to give them market value and screening them after nearly a decade they were made. Unfortunately, they were unsucessful, eventually the studio shut down and most of the cartoons were scattered. Some of them were found in a garbage tin behind a film lab, were sold, and are now presented to you by Kit Parker Films.
