Indonesia is the largest island country in the world, with thousands of islands. One of the largest islands in the country is Sumatra. In this video series we travel around West Sumatra, the land of Minangkabau and Mentawai people, with volcanoes, rainforests, wild beaches, lakes, and valleys.

Minangkabau Highland is the core cultural area of Minangkabau people. This land is famous for its local architecture, called Rumah Gadang- beautiful traditional houses with buffalo-horned roofs. The most beautiful Rumah Gadang is Pagaruyung Palace, that you can see in our previous video. And in this video, we explore more of the local traditional houses and rural areas, including the oldest Rumah Gadang in Balimbing Village, and the oldest Minangkabau village, called Pariangang. On the way, you can see the tranquil Lake Singkarak.
