Collaborative mission to save Elephant suffering from liver fluke disease & stuck in a muddy field

A sick elephant suffering from serious liver ailment was found stuck in a muddy field, unable to stand. This elephant was found wandering in the village 3 days earlier with weakened condition. One morning a farmer found that the elephant had collapsed down and stuck in a muddy field. Some other villagers are also gathered to help the elephant. One villager alerted the wildlife officials about the distressed elephant. They rushed the spot to ail the elephant.
First they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong with the elephant. However they convinced that elephant should be lifted and keep away from the muddy field as soon as possible. Its legs were had become stuck deeply in mud and was unable to lift itself out. They poured some water over elephant’s body and to the muddy field to dilute the thick mud cover. But the elephant didn’t move. Then the wildlife officials along with the villagers, decided to bring a backhoe to haul the elephant. With the help of the machine, they loosened the muddy ground, then provide gentle nudges to support the elephant to stand up. But as the elephant was severely weakened, the force was not sufficient to haul the elephant.
Their next attempt was to haul the elephant with a strong sling. One end of the rope was wrapped around the elephant’s body. The other end was tied to the bucket of the backhoe. Then started hauling the elephant out of the mud. It was not an easy task to .It was not a not that easy task to haul a massive elephant, as the elephant cannot provide any support from the body.
Later on, after the inspection of a veterinary surgeon, it was revealed that elephant was suffering from a severe internal ailment in the liver. It was diagnosed as the fluke infection of liver, which is caused by Fasciola parasites, which are flat worms referred to as liver flukes. It was detected by stool sample test. This cause abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. The long standing infection can cause to slow death to the animal. Elephant was treated for the infection. It will be shown in another video. With about 3 hours of effort they could haul the elephant out of the mud. Elephant was made to its feet. She moved away from the mud ground. But may be due to the parasitic infection of liver,elephant had no energy in the body. She fell over its side on the ground again. The villagers provided some food to the sick elephant. Elephant is to be treated continuously for several days. We’ll upload another video about her treatments and condition.
