Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for Combined Competitive Examination 2023, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Both male and female candidates are eligible.
Candidates must be domiciled and permanent residents of the Sindh province.
Candidates must hold at least a second division Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of 1st September 2023.

Screening Test
The first hurdle in the selection process is a compulsory screening test. The test consists of 100 or 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering General English, Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs, General Science and Ability, and MCQs related to Sindh, such as lakes and important places.

The passing marks for the screening test are 50%, and a negative marking of 0.25 per incorrect answer applies. This makes the screening test a challenging hurdle, with only around 2,000 out of 40,000 candidates typically clearing it. Consequently, dedicated preparation is crucial to overcome this initial step.

Compulsory and Optional Subjects
The good news for Combined Competitive Examination 2023 aspirants is that the Sindh Public Service Commission has revised the syllabus, bringing it closer to that of the CSS examination. The written exam carries a total of 1,000 marks, with an additional 200 marks awarded for the viva voce.

The written exam comprises six compulsory subjects, each carrying 100 marks:

Essay
Precis and Composition
Combined one paper for Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs
General Science and Ability
Urdu or Sindhi General
Additionally, candidates can choose four optional subjects, with one subject selected from each group.
