Diamond Comic Distributors Closes New Memphis Warehouse

Comic book publishers were told yesterday and comic book retailers will be told at the ComicsPRO retailer summit today that Diamond Comic Distributors is closing their New Memphis, Tennessee warehouse and distribution centre, with all functions transferring to their Olive Branch, Mississippi distribution centre. It is understood that this is a direct result of DC Comics leaving Diamond in favour of Lunar Distribution – though they still use Diamond for UK and European distribution.

Publishers have been told that the New Memphis centre is closed, immediately, and they should reroute any products to either their Olive Branch or Plattsburgh distribution centres.

Also, Saturday shipments will no longer be available as the Olive Branch centre is closed on Saturdays. Diamond Olive Branch will start fulfilling orders starting with items on sale next week, however, due to current weather issues in the area, deliveries may be pushed back further.

Image's Spawn-Verse Includes Four Titles, Including a Team Book

Image Comics and Todd McFarlane's interconnected Spawn universe will feature four new titles, including three monthly series.

Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and Image Comics recently announced plans for a "multi-character, interconnected comic book universe" centered around the indie comics icon, with McFarlane dubbing 2021 the "Year of Spawn." These plans currently call for four new titles, including three monthly series -- one of which is a team book.

Things kick off in June with Spawn's Universe #1, which will set the stage for things to come in the other titles. The Year of Spawn continues in August with King Spawn #1, which sees the titular anti-hero "join the rare company of stalwart characters, like Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man, that will have multiple monthly books for the same title character." King Spawn #1 also marks the first time since 1992 that readers will be able to pick up issue #1 of a monthly Spawn book.

DC announces 11 surprise new 2021 titles

DC gave a virtual presentation to comic book retailers at this year's annual ComicsPro event, and announced 11 new titles that it plans to publish in 2021.

The upcoming new titles include (as briefly described by DC):

Harley Quinn Animated Series sequel
A Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary title
Elseworld
"DC Vampires"
Robin and Batman
Joker: A Puzzle Box
The Legend of Batman
Crush and Lobo
Nubia and the Amazons
DC Middle Ages

The publisher also announced their intention to participate in Free Comic Book Day 2021 on August 14.
