Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a nationwide crackdown on Hawala Hundi and illegal currency exchange networks, producing shocking results.

According to official FIA data, 523 raids were conducted during 2025, leading to 546 criminal cases and the arrest of 667 suspects involved in illegal currency trading. Authorities also completed investigations in 174 inquiries linked to unlicensed money exchange operations.

During these operations, FIA recovered currency worth more than PKR 1.99 billion, including USD 777,868, foreign currency valued at over PKR 320 million, and more than PKR 1.45 billion in Pakistani rupees.

Arrests were made across multiple zones including Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta, Multan, and Hyderabad. Several plazas, markets, and shops operating without licenses were sealed. FIA has also tightened its grip on international agents involved in foreign currency smuggling.

Officials say strict punishments will be ensured based on solid evidence, and all available resources are being used to dismantle these illegal financial networks.
