Описание к видео How to Manage Mosquito Infestation in Miami: Tackling the Impossible Task of Mosquito Control

In this video, Frank the Pest Geek discusses the challenges of mosquito control and how small habits can lead to big problems. He starts by pointing out a container on the back side of a property that has been left with water, which can breed hundreds of mosquitoes. Tipping the container over is not enough, it needs to be removed. He also shows a hot tub that is not being used, and the cover is not sealing it properly, leading to standing water where mosquitoes are breeding. Spraying an adulticide is not enough, as the larvae need to be treated with a larvicide every two weeks, such as IGR, BTI, or Spinosad.

Frank shows that even a small backyard can have breeding sites for mosquitoes in lawn and shrubs, or in containers like the bromeliad plant that he finds near the front door. The video demonstrates how to remove a paper wasp nest using a pole and scraper. Frank shows several bromeliad plants, which are common breeding sites for mosquitoes, and a bird bath that is not being attended to, leading to mosquito breeding.

He points out that even an air conditioner can be a problem if it is not draining properly, creating a puddle of water where mosquitoes can breed. Frank emphasizes that neighbors up to 300 feet away who have the same issues can lead to a community-wide mosquito problem. He cautions that unless all the breeding sites are identified and treated with larvicides, spraying adulticides will not control the problem. Pest control companies need to educate their clients about mosquito breeding habits to help them identify breeding sites and take preventive measures.

So, Frank The Pestgeek talks about the biggest problem of living alongside the Turnpike in Miami during the rainy season which is the breeding of millions and millions of mosquitoes due to miles and miles of stagnant water. He explains that no matter which pest control company one hires, they will still have mosquitoes as it's impossible to control the breeding site, which is all along the Turnpike. Frank demonstrates how mosquito larvae breed in stagnant water and how removing that water can help eliminate the mosquito problem. He also mentions that many properties have catch basins, fountains, plants, and bird baths that breed mosquitoes and that people need to use an insect growth regulator to treat these water areas and an adulticide to control adult mosquitoes that land on plants. He warns that a single strategy of just spraying with an insecticide or misting won't work and that insect growth regulators are UV sensitive and only last about two weeks. Frank also emphasizes that bromeliads are the number one cause of mosquitoes on properties, and if people have this plant, Miami-Dade County urges them to remove it and not replant it because it spreads mosquitoes to their property and every neighbor that's on every side of them. Lastly, he shows a garden with bromeliads and bird baths as an example of what not to do if one wants to avoid mosquitoes.

Don't let your clients fall victim to pesky mosquito infestations this season. Take action now and educate them on the importance of identifying and treating breeding sites with larvicides every two weeks, such as IGR, BTI, or Spinosad. It's not enough to simply spray adulticides, as small habits like leaving standing water in containers or neglecting a bird bath can lead to big mosquito problems. Remember, even neighbors up to 300 feet away can contribute to a community-wide issue. Don't let your clients suffer any longer. Arm them with the knowledge they need to prevent mosquito breeding sites and keep their properties mosquito-free. Act now and make sure they understand the importance of proper mosquito control measures!
