02 Where do the Alamanni come from?

Описание к видео 02 Where do the Alamanni come from?

The knowledge about the origins of the Alemanni lies in the proverbial darkness of history. Thanks to grave finds, research can gradually come closer to a possible origin, but much remains uncertain.
It seems certain that the Alemanni formed over the centuries from several tribes and groups, forming loose associations that continually regrouped as they moved south, where they encountered the Romans, who were engaged in a warlike and economic encounter that lasted for centuries were eventually gradually replaced or the Alemanni mixed with the Gallo-Roman population to form a new population, which ultimately remained fixed (what a huge statement!).
Today the descendants of the Alemanni live in six countries in Central Europe: France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy and Switzerland.
Furthermore, the supposed contrast between Alemanni and Swabians has become established. Although everyone is Alemanni, due to history and linguistic differences, a contrast is cultivated, especially between the regions of Baden and Swabia in Baden-Württemberg (the name of the federal state is clue enough, there were alternatives to this in 1952).
