Описание к видео OnePlus 5T Smartphone 8G/128G Midnight Black

This is not one of my normal reviews, just a few thoughts on the 5T a few weeks after my purchase on the day of Uk release.

My old Nexus 6P was on the way out, the battery life was abysmal and the camera kept failing and having had it for two years it seemed a good time to move on. I intended at first to get the Google Pixel 2 XL but found it hard to pull the trigger on a phone costing £800 that I* might only keep for a year. The OnePlus 5T was then released and the reviews tempted me. I can remember having browser pages open to purchase both phones and I couldn't decide between them. Finally, I did and went for the OnePus 5T, mainly due to the £300 price difference.

I am very happy with my choice, although if they were the same price I would probably go for the Google phone because of the camera and guaranteed system updates.

I was very impressed from the start by the way the Android 7.1.1 Operated System has been enhanced and developed by OnePlus. At first sight, it looks the same the pure Google version but there are a great many additional options and features available but nothing that impinges on the core Operating System. The only significant difference is the OnePlus launcher which seems fine but I just downloaded and installed the Google Now launcher that I am accustomed to. There are a couple of OnePlus programs installed, for pictures and file management but again I just downloaded the Google alternatives I am familiar with. The OnePlus homegrown versions seem fine but I am happy with the ones I know.

The camera came in for some criticism at first but after the system update from OnePlus I have to say now it is excellent and streets ahead of the one on the Nexus 6P. I find the low light results to be very good indeed and the portrait mode again is excellent. Most reviewers say it is inferior to that on the Google XL and no doubt it is but to me it is still a major upgrade.

The screen although just 1080P is vibrant and bright and unlike with the old Nexus 6P can be read in almost all outdoor lighting conditions.

The Nexus 6P I found had to keep on charge whenever I was at home but the OnePlus 5T I genuinely just put on the charger for a few minutes in the morning and it easily lasts all day.

Using the phone is a dream. It is by far the fastest and snappiest device I have ever used and it just keeps on going. Nothing I can throw at it will slow it down. Admittedly, I do have the 8Gb RAM version but given the way smartphones use RAM, I doubt if it is any faster than the 6GB version.

This is a fantastic phone and I love using it. The only problems I have with it are not with the phone itself but rather with OnePlus and in fact are not even problems but rather doubts. It is a real pity this came out with Android 7.1.1 rather than Android 8 as the Operating System. OnePlus have promised an update and indeed a beta version of Android 8 can now be downloaded with the release version promised for January. It is a pity that this and the camera firmware update were not available on launch. The other doubt I have is just how long this phone will be supported. The 5T came out just a few months after the model 5 and already there is talk of a OnePlus 6 being released in March this year. Google promised a three year OS and security update for the Pixel 2 range.

With that in mind and with money no object I would probably go for the Google Pixel 2 XL, otherwise, I would be happy to recommend the OnePlus 5T for anyone looking for flagship performance at a mid-range price.
