King Charles heads to work to meet with ambassadors travelling by carriage 👑

King Charles III travels in the Rolls Royce Phantom IV State Car to Buckingham Palace for a day of meeting with ambassadors who arrived by carriage, before then travelling to Canary Wharf in a 2020 Bentley Mulsanne. You may also spot the Queen Consort in her Audi!

The Rolls Royce Phantom IV was acquired by Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1950, and has remained with the royal family ever since. The 2020 Bentley Mulsanne is used for more modern day-to-day activity outside of Buckingham Palace, and comes with all the security features you'd expect of a VIP vehicle used for police protective duties. These vehicles are escorted by the Special Escort Group of the Metropolitan Police, with a Range Rover following for close protection.

The carriages, known as Landaus, are housed at the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace along with the stately cars, and are used to transport ambassadors to the palace for an audience with the king. You may also see them during The Coronation with a variety of different horses from the Royal Mews and the Metropolitan Police's Mounted Division.
