Techwood Homes: The First American Project Homes

Описание к видео Techwood Homes: The First American Project Homes

Techwood Homes was the first American Housing project in Atlanta, GA, and the United States. Techwood Homes, and others like it, helped to home many people who were struggling to find adequate housing after the Great Depression and became a model of what every state in the union should do to combat homelessness.

Except, it also made many people homeless as well. Gentrification in America starts and ends with Techwood Homes as it was built over Tanyard Bottom, a slum made up of the poor from both Black & White communities. Tanyard Bottom would be destroyed to make way for Techwood Homes and to make the elite of Atlanta rich. It would all come to a halt after the government pulled funding for Techwood Homes.
