Описание к видео West Coast Main Line Trains at South Kenton on March 9th 2024

4th visit to South Kenton on the West Coast Main Line, London Underground's Bakerloo Line and Watford DC Lines

Featuring services from Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway, London Overground, Southern and Bakerloo Line and freight

South Kenton was a later addition opening on July 3rd 1933 with the platform style of concrete and glass originally designed by Henry Hamlyn.

It's one of 4 Island Platforms on the Watford DC Lines between London Euston and Watford Junction with here and the low level platforms of Willesden Junction shared with London Underground's Bakerloo Line with the other two being Carpenters Park and Watford High Street.

The original access to South Kenton's island platform was via a footbridge from an embankment which overtime was replaced by a pedestrian tunnel

In fact whats unusual is that there is no ticket gates at this station due to restrictive access however there are no plans to implement them anytime in the future.

The frequency alternates between London Overground and London Underground's Bakerloo Line with one train every 15 minutes.

The Bakerloo Line first began running beyond Queens Park in 1915 when it was extended to Willesden Junction before extending to Watford Junction in 1917

In 1964 services beyond Queens Park were cut back to 4 Monday to Friday Morning and Evening Peak hour services before being withdrawn North of Stonebridge Park in September 1982.

Bakerloo services were reinstated as far as Harrow & Wealdstone in June 1984 on Weekdays, Saturdays in 1989 before a full 7 day a week service was restored In 1990.

Today most Bakerloo Line services originate from Elephant & Castle terminate at Queens Park with some terminating at Stonebridge Park which is also Home of the Bakerloo Line's main depot since April 1979 whilst some extend to Harrow & Wealdstone.

The 1972 Stock is over 50 years being the oldest fleet on London Underground with the 1973 Stock of the Piccadilly Line being the 2nd oldest however at the time of filming the latter is due to be replaced by new NTFL stock by Siemens between 2025 and 2027 being built in Vienna, Austria and Goole in East Yorkshire

However according to TFL due to limited funding the 1972 stock isn't due to be replaced anytime soon despite safety concerns expressed by Unions about the state they are in.

London Overground services on the Watford DC Lines are nowadays operated by Class 710 Aventras with the four car sets being 710/2s with the 5 car sets being 710/3s which are maintained at Willesden TMD.

The West Coast Main Line is full of activity with passing Intercity Services from Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway as well as Southern services plus plenty of Freight traffic.

Whilst South Kenton may look like a simple island Platform however with the amount of traffic that comes and goes for anyone it should never be underestimated.
