Beijing Confucian Temple, originally named as Guo Zi Jian (The lmperial College)Confucian Temple or Capilal Confucian Temple, was the place where emperors offered sacrifices to Confucius. A construction system was thus formed with Guo Zi Jian in the left andthe Confucian Temple in the right.

Guo Zi Jian (The lmperial College) in Beijing was the highest educational institution and administering organ of education set up by the state during the three dynasties of Yuan, Ming, and Qing. Guo Zi Jian was founded in 1287, it covers an area of some 27,000m' with three courtyards. On the central axes, there are Ji Xian Gate, Tai Xue (lmperial College) Gate, Glazed Memorial Arch, Bi Yong Hall, Yi Lun Hall and Jing Yi Pavilion.
Guo Zi Jian, neighboring the Confucian Temple in the east, is the only site of an ancient institution of the highest education that has been preserved intact in China. Boasting a long history, unique architecture style and cultural profoundness, it has been listed among the Cultural Relics under the Protection of the State.
