What do we learn from Matthew 16:13-19?
Jesus makes sure Peter knows that it is not his knowledge, but God’s knowledge, that has been planted in him. Then, Jesus blesses him. So, this passage begins with Jesus, not us, who initiates both blessing and knowledge. Likewise, the church begins and is built on the initiation of God’s blessing and knowledge.
