A Boomerang Buyer is one that had a negative credit event that was associated with a mortgage. For example they may have had a short-sale or a foreclosure or they may have had a bankruptcy and now the time bar from this negative event has passed and the path is clear for them to secure a mortgage again.

It is estimated that 10 million American’s faced foreclosure or a short-sale during the housing crisis and now Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, The Federal Housing Administration (a.k.a. FHA) and the Department of Veteran Affairs waiting period is over and there is a path for a new mortgage for these families.

As primer, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, The Department of Veteran Affairs and the The Federal Housing Authority (a.k.a. FHA) all put waiting periods on a person that had a negative credit event such as a foreclosure, bankruptcy or short-sale.
