Session 1: Business Opportunities in Bilateral Climate Pacts
Bilateral climate partnerships are becoming strategic levers to drive green
investment, technology exchange, and low carbon development. Among these, the
Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) spearheaded by Japan offers a unique model for
collaborative climate action that also unlocks new trade and business
opportunities. As India explores deeper bilateral engagement on climate and
carbon markets, mechanisms like the JCM could become pivotal in accelerating
industrial decarbonization and green innovation.
This session will examine how the JCM can serve as a platform for technology
transfer, carbon credit generation, and business-to-business collaboration in
sectors such as energy efficiency, transport, and manufacturing. Experts will
deliberate on the potential for integrating JCM style mechanisms into India’s
evolving climate and carbon market architecture, aligned with Article 6 of the Paris
Agreement.
