According to 2021 statistics, the state of Florida has planted about 74 million citrus trees on 569,000 acres. In order for these citrus trees to bear sweet fruit, farmers have to wait and care for them for about three to five years. To maintain healthy growth, specialized machines are used every year to prune thousands of citrus trees on farms. This pruning not only helps control the height of the trees but also creates conditions for them to grow better, ready for harvest.

In late January and early February, citrus trees in Florida begin to bloom. It is a magical moment, when tiny flower buds open, promising a bumper crop over the next six months. During this period, biological preparations are used to protect the fragile flower buds from aphids and pests.
After about six to seven months from blooming, the juicy citrus fruits are ready to be harvested. When harvest time comes, about 18,000 workers will be hired to work on citrus farms across the United States. Billions of citrus fruits will be picked and shipped to factories for packaging and juice production.
