Описание к видео Stuart House Online Talk for Liskeard Unlocked 2020

A talk by Rachel Bennett about Stuart House in Liskeard. Stuart House is a unique late medieval town house, significantly altered in the seventeenth century, with a fascinating architectural, political and human history.

It is famous for the visit of King Charles I who stayed here during the Civil War in 1644, hosted by Liskeard's loyally Royalist mayor, Joseph Jane.

It is now an arts and heritage centre with three permanent exhibitions linked to the history of the house and also hosts exhibitions by local artists and crafts people as well as talks and concerts. It has a beautiful 'hidden' garden and a friendly cafe.
