The Long Dark (15.06.2018 at 03 29 16 01) Playing with new update 1.33 "Vigilant Flame" for first time. (manual cooking, buffer memories, extra ambient music, bug fixes, and a new map)
Waking up in Old Spence Family Homestead (in
Forlorn Muskeg Region), and most of the time staying near it, because it has the forge. And I need to continue making arrowheads, plus other tools. Plus cooking meat ect. Go later on to caves, plus Maintenance Yard (Broken Railroad region).
Have the new update v.1.33 called "Vigilant Flame" now. Changes a bit how you cook, and added a new map. Plus a bit of other things...Bug fixes, and some new nice background ambient music.... Plus "Buffer memories". When computers comes alive and powered up during the aurora, then you can now check some info on it. That'll be bit of info in forms of the last data in memory when the computer were used last time. And could be notes, e-mails ect.
Some people prefer to start all over, with the survival mission, when there's an update. But I'm not like that. In my mind that would be pedantic to throw away all my progress in the Survival mission, just because some changes. I would not say this time its a minor change, but adding manual cooking, plus a new map, I would not call that a big game changer. It's a change for sure, but not in the sense that I get a mayor advantage playing with the older version before. I cook now with a metal pot of 0.5 liter water a time, so making a lot of water, it now just some more clicks, in order to make 2-4 liters of water. And a new map... Well, I have come to 481 days of survival. That's a lot to just throw away. And the new map, could as well be a map, I just hadn't discovered yet. I know by fact, there's still some places and maps I haven't been yet. Like "Desolation Point" ect ect. So the new map added, could as well just been around that place anyway. I'm don't neglect that some gamers, like to do games in a purist fashion, and that's maybe why they feel like starting all over again on a new Survival mission. But yeah, in other words, still continue on my survival mission after the update, I don't feel like the update give me a big advantage, so it would be a to go so far to call it cheating. I could understand, if the old version, made me build a lot of electric generators, and I had a ton of food, and my own field of vegetables, uzi's with laser-sights (Jean-Claude Van Damme in Timecop (1994) reference) ect ect. But the change, is very subtle in my mind, when it come to actual gameplay. But I like indeed what they did. The nice and beautiful game, have now become even more beautiful. And I like the new atmospheric ambient music. I would buy the music tracks from that game, and also if they have put the new music on Steam. Those developers does indeed deserve an applause for their work with this game. Anyway, enough writing... Hope you liked/like my video.... :-) Regards Krusty/KrustyKillar
