The Labour Party National Executive Committee, under the leadership of Julius Abure, has condemned the recent picketing of the party headquarters by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as an abuse of the law. Speaking at a press briefing in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, the chairman of the party emphasised that the NLC does not have ownership over the Labour Party.

According to the Committee, the Congress is being manipulated by influential individuals to sow discord and destabilize the party. The reaction comes in response to the NLC's protest action at the Labour Party headquarters located in the Utako area of the Federal Capital Territory. The Committee asserts that the picketing represents a misuse of legal avenues and undermines the integrity of the political process.

By characterising the NLC's actions as an abuse of the law, the Labour Party's National Executive Committee seeks to challenge the legitimacy of the protest and defend its organisational autonomy. The statement underscores the tensions between political parties and labour unions, highlighting the complex dynamics within Nigeria's political landscape.
