Princess Diana in Angola - Rare and Unseen Footage of Campaign Against Landmines (1997)

Описание к видео Princess Diana in Angola - Rare and Unseen Footage of Campaign Against Landmines (1997)

On 13 January 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales arrived in Angola to assist the Red Cross in their international campaign to ban anti-personnel landmines. Ravaged by decades of war, Angola at the time suffered the highest rate of casualties caused by landmines left in the earth - an often-lethal legacy of conflicts passed. This archival footage covers the Princess of Wales' first three days in Angola, and includes the now-iconic footage of Diana being shown around a minefield in the Angolan city of Huambo. While Diana devoted her time to many charitable causes, the campaign against landmines is one of the humanitarian causes with which she is most closely associated. Her work in the field has most recently been dramatised as part of series six of The Crown. Focused largely around the final months of Princess Diana's life as well as her death, the series stars Elizabeth Debicki in the role of Diana and Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II.
