Orange Slice Cake

Y'all this recipe was requested by a viewer and my husband's mawmaws made the best Orange Slice Cake however I never liked orange Slice Cake. But I got her recipe to make this for a video.
But today I Loved it and so did Bryant!
Isaac ate 2 slices back to back.
I made a huge mistake once I got it out of the oven but was able to fix it and it was delish!
I am taking most of the cake to a friend's grandma who just had surgery. But I will definitely be fixing this again.

Orange Slice Cake

1 c butter
2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c buttermilk
3 1/2 c ap flour
1 tsp baking soda (mix with flour)
1 lb orange slice candy (chopped and mixed in
1/2 cup of flour)
1/2 lb chopped dates
2 c chopped nuts
1 cup of coconut

glaze:
1 cup orange juice
2 cups powdered sugar

preheat oven to 250°
mix Cake up per video instructions. Bake for 2 & 1/2 hours ** but be sure to check your cake by inserting a knife to see if it comes out clean. my cake needed to stay in longer but I forgot to check it.
glaze and enjoy.
Mawmaw said to let it sit over night before cutting but we just didn't wait.
