“How To” Draw Dangles Series - #1 Draw Happy Lines by Olivia A Kneibler

A few points I like to make:
1. I refresh some of the information from prior videos on this subject in the first part of the video. If you would like to skip past that and go to where I'm actually drawing please skip to about minute 6:30.

(Is markering a real word? : )

2. I casually mention during the drawing portion of this video that I'm currently working on the second Drawing Dangles book, I guess it could be considered an unofficial announcement of my new book. This book will be geared towards the basics of drawing dangles and letters. I will also cover some concepts such as balance, tension/excitement, placement, types of lines, and much more. I guess it could be considered to be a prequel of sorts. It will be a workbook as well with plenty of space to practice. So if there is anything you would like for me to cover in the book that pertains to the subject please let me know. You can hear a little bit about the book if you go to about minute 8:20.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Dangles, I created this art form so that anyone of any skill level can jump right in and start creating. Dangles is a playful art form for people who love journaling, coloring, tangles, doodles, lettering, being creative, and much more.

In this video I start the second part of this series, creating the word happy. I talk about various aspects of drawing the letters of the word and some general concepts of Dangles. This video is the basic starting point of any Dangle project, lines and how to use lines to create your image. Every step of this process is an important part to creating your finished project but you need the foundation which is the basic laying out of the line so you have something to build on.

As I’ve mentioned before, everything depends on what and why you are creating your project. If you are learning it just for fun, art therapy, as well as many other reasons let your emotions and desires be your guide. If you are watching this series to learn how to create for a theme, occasion, holiday, etc. the above applies as well but you will also want to incorporate some of the steps I provide too, so a bit of pre-planning might be quite helpful.

I would love to hear some of your comments and/or if you have any suggestions or questions. Just FYI this series is subject to change, I might alter or add some videos - a lot of that depends on you :) If you would like for me to cover something in more detail or add something I haven’t included please comment below as it really will make a difference!

Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed it.

Have a beautiful day!
Olivia
