My Trip to Ride Santos & The Vortex in Ocala, FL

I got lost trying to find the trail head in reverse lol

Here are some facts about these trails

*80 plus miles of pure off-road riding bliss. Santos is the largest and best known mountain biking park in the Ocala, Florida area
*The trail system is on land that is part of the Cross Florida Greenway.
*The greenway was born out of the failed Cross Florida Barge Canal which was terminated in the late 60s.
*Santos is named for the small town where the main trailhead is located
*The majority of advanced riding is located around two abandoned mining pits. This area is Known as the vortex

*The trails are maintained by the Ocala Mountain Biking Association (OMBA)

Looking for a fun event

Every year the first week of March the OMBA hosts a Spring Break Fat Tire Festival that includes three days and two nights of music, food, riding and socializing

Amenities located at the trail head
The Santos Trailhead has restrooms, potable water, a bike wash rack, and several picnic pavilions for relaxing and telling stories of “the ride." There are also several bike shops located very close to the trailhead for needed supplies, repairs or refreshments.
