How to grow Cordyline fruticosa / how to grow hawaiian Ti plants! In this video I am talking all about the cordyline fruticosa and how to grow them. The Ti plants are an easy to grow tropical plant with lush variegated foliage that stands out in any home or garden. Growing Cordyline fruticosa as a houseplant can be a bit more challenging in very dry climates but often times over a span they will adjust if givin some supplemental humidity. There are hundreds if not thousands of variations in leaf color, plant size and shape with these plants. Cordyline fruticosa can be grown in both shade and sun and depending on the variety the foliage color will be more vibrant in one or the other. Cordyline fruticosa ' Red Sister ' for example can grow in full sun or shade but the intensity of the foliage color will be best when it is grown somewhere in the middle to perhaps even full sun. Cordyline fruticosa ' harlequin ' and Cordyline fruticos ' kiwi ' can take full sun but will have more pink if they get part sun to part shade. People spend a lot of money on Philodendron pink princess but I honestly feel you can get just as much if not more foliar appeal from the variegation in the Ti plants and they are much cheaper! Hey if you really want to blow people's minds with variegated plants grow your pink princess right next to your Ti plant... will have a variegation overload! I can't think of any other plant species with as many options for pink variegation and pink variegated plants are hard to come by. If you love rare and unusual plants but don't want to spend the money, these are a great option to fill the void for high intensity color in the home and garden. Have to love a pink variegated houseplant!
