Metallic Bonds and the Sea of Free Electrons

Описание к видео Metallic Bonds and the Sea of Free Electrons

Metallic Bonds. Mr. Causey discusses metallic bonds and the sea of free electrons. Although, metallic bonds are not chemical bonds, metallic bonds are still an attraction between a metal cation and a cloud of negative electrons.

Mr. Causey discusses the metallic bond and the sea of free electrons. The electrons in the "d" sub-energy level can get free from the attraction of the nucleus and create a negative cloud around the metal cations. This cloud then creates an attraction with the metal cations. This attraction allows for many metals to be malleable, ductile and shiny instead of brittle, flaky and dull.
