2013 Paul Reed Smith P22 Standard: PRS Tone Review And Demo

This PRS P22 Standard MSL Limited Run is our unique take on the P22. We realized it's difficult to mod a PRS since every design is already so dialed in, so our first order of business was to leave everything intact we love about the P22. We didn't change the electronics. There are two 57/08 pickups and a piezo-equipped stoptail bridge, and they can be combined in a number of ways. The P22's two outputs are alive and well: Mix/mag and piezo. We ditched the flame maple top and opted for a full mahogany body and top, which both shaves off cost and gives the guitar an elegant natural vibe. We couldn't help ourselves when it came to fretboard wood selection - we decided on a Brazilian Rosewood. Possibly the best tone wood on the planet, Brazilian Rosewood is getting harder and harder to find on any guitar, new or used. We topped everything off with gold hardware and old-school paua bird inlays. PRS did an outstanding job making our P22 come to life. It's a unique and distinctly musical guitar that you're not going to see anywhere else. We only have 10 of these instruments, so they won't stick around for long.
