Entrepreneurs, investors and the general public often hold the view that a startup needs to bring about a revolution or change the world to have major success. Several role models embody this belief, among them Elon Musk and Steve Jobs. Alon’s position is that there is also a place for startups that provide solutions for specific sectors of the population. A case in point is startups that improve existing systems, which can be very successful. Searching for big-time innovation can sometimes have the opposite effect, leading to failure. Alon Arvatz is best described as a serial entrepreneur. About six years ago, he founded “IntSights”, a cyber start-up that provides intelligence on cyber attacks before they occur. IntSights was acquired for about $350 million six months ago. Before that, he founded “Cyber School”, a cyber studies organization for youth, which he managed until its acquisition. At the same time Alon is active in social initiatives. He founded "Money Wings," a non-profit organization active in the field of financial education for young people. He now mentors and invests in entrepreneurs at the beginning of their journey. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
