Why the Rear Engine Porsche Motor Layout is Best

Porsche is best known for an engine layout of having the power plant behind the rear axel. The have made some wonderful rear-engine and front-engine cars, but the rear engine Porsche is what the German automaker is famous for. The Porsche 911 is best known for it. but the 356, 912 and 959 all leverage the engine location.

No matter if the Porsche engine is a flat-six or flat-four there are some advantages to the motor layout. The engine placement may at first appear to be a crazy idea, but in this video I will go through the ways that it is superior to the mid-engine and front-engine placement.
