Global Market Cues | Dow was up 1.29% at 34,021; S&P was up 1.22%; Nasdaq was up 0.72%

US

U.S. stocks closed higher after improving labor market data offset worrisome inflation data.
Jobless claims hitting new lows suggested that the economy is closer to full reopening negating fear of higher interest rates.
Cyclicals like Industrial and financial shares led gains in the S&P 500, while energy producers joined a slump in oil.
The yield on 10-year Treasuries declined four basis points to 1.65%
Dow was up 1.29% at 34,021 while the S&P was up 1.22%. Nasdaq was up 0.72%.
Europe
European stocks were weighed down by a fall in heavyweight miners after commodity prices tumbled.
Basic resources fell 3.0%, leading declines among European sectors, while oil and gas slipped 1.4%.
Automakers also shed 0.9%, while defensive names like utilities, healthcare and telecoms rose.
DAX was up 0.33% while CAC was up 0.14%. FTSE was down 0.59%
Asia
Stocks in Asia rallied after U.S. benchmarks halted a three-day slide as signs of a strengthening labour market tempered inflation worries.
Investors will be watching China’s open after MSCI Inc.’s index covering the country’s stocks fell into bear-market territory.
ASX 200 (Australia) was up 0.76%. Nikkei was up 1.69% while KOSPI was down 0.86%
Oil
West Texas Intermediate crude fell 3.5% to $64 a barrel
Price of oil dropped off sharply on news that the Colonial Pipeline had resumed operations post the shutdown due to ransomware attack.
Gold
Gold futures rose 0.3% to $1,828 an ounce.
