My 981 GT4 is, of course, a manual (stick shift)!

The video above shows me driving, while below is the Sport Auto lap (helmet cam).

There seems to be about a 6-second difference between our lap times, with Sport Auto having the advantage. As I recall, Sport Auto’s lap time was 2 seconds slower than Porsche’s factory lap time. The Porsche factory lap, driven by Timo Kluck, was 7:40 at the same lap length, starting from T13, just like Sport Auto’s lap.

Car Weights and Setup

The Sport Auto/Porsche test car is lighter than mine and features ceramic brakes.
• With a full tank of gas, the Sport Auto car weighs 1379 kg (1454 kg with driver).
• In comparison, my 981 GT4 weighs 1430 kg (1510 kg with me in the car) with a full tank.

Conclusion: My car handles better downhill, particularly from T13 to Adenau/Breidscheid. The extra weight of my car doesn’t hurt as much downhill, but it becomes more of a disadvantage when going uphill. From Adenau/Breidscheid to the Gantry (finish line), the track goes uphill, and my car’s weight starts to affect my performance more.

Comparing Lap Times

I posted this video because I believe the comparison between our laps was appreciated by viewers.
• My lap: 7:30 with an accelerating start.
• Sport Auto’s lap: 7:42, using their original start at T13.

To ensure a fair comparison, we both started from T13 and finished at the Gantry. I had some traffic on the long straight coming from the pits, which forced me to lift off the throttle midway through the straight. This impacted my lap time, but starting from T13 and finishing at the Gantry gave us both a more accurate comparison.

Track Day Info
• I drove my lap during the Manthey track day in September 2015.
• Sport Auto did their lap in April 2015, based on when they posted it on YouTube.

Car Setup
• Camber: -2.16° front, -1.6° rear
• 100% stock car, with camber settings adjusted to the maximum allowed by the stock setup
• Weight: 1430 kg without the driver (1510 kg with me in the car)
• Fuel: 64L fuel tank
• Package: Clubsport pack (including half cage), LWB, steel brakes
• This was my second outing in the car during the Manthey track day on September 25, 2015.

Note: I was on the speed limit at Döttinger Höhe, Flugplatz, and SwedenX.
