If you wear any kind of sunscreen, I’ll honestly be very happy because it ultimately boils down to wearing something consistently on a daily basis.

But if you deal with things like melasma, hyperpigmentation from sun damage, or dark acne marks, you may want to look into tinted sunscreens, since I do think that zinc-based sunscreens with iron oxide help with hyperpigmentation issues.

Here are two cons (but also work around a) with tinted sunscreens:

1. It can get messy if you wear white clothes. So I always put a layer of sheer sunscreen first and cover my neck, ears, and hands. Then I follow up with tinted sunscreen just on my face. Yes it sounds neurotic and maybe excessive but it works for me.

2. It may not match your skin tone. I recommend going to places like Ulta or Sephora to try the tinted sunscreen on your skin to make sure it matches and blends well. If you have a dermatologist, many of them may carry samples as well (I know we do 😁). You can even email different retailers, like dermablend, and ask for samples. And don’t forget that Amazon has free returns.
