Whether it's logical or not, we tend to be more open to ideas when the information is coming from people we know and trust. When presenting veganism to someone, it's important to try to remove as many defensive walls as possible. People are very protective of their autonomy and don't like to be told what to do.

A good way of lowering those defenses is to already have something in common with the person you're targeting. If you're able to connect with someone on a different level beforehand, you'll have a stronger foundation to start off from rather than having to start from nothing. It's a silver bullet but it can help you.

If I didn't already have my connection to CosmicSkeptic like I did, I truly believe I wouldn't be vegan today. We need to help bridge the gaps to tear down the wall of cognitive dissonance.
