Maududi on Jinnah and Pakistan

We have been taught that Pakistan was made to be an Islamic State. The organisation that has championed this idea is the Jamaat e Islami. However, the actual works of Maududi from the 1930s till the 1950s allege that Pakistan had nothing to do with Islam or the demand for an Islamic state. He alleges that the Muslim League was a secular, democratic & nationalist organisation. It was precisely on this basis that Maududi did not support the demand for the independence of Pakistan. Hence, the work of Maududi actually, ironically, proves that Pakistan was meant to be a secular democratic state.
