Thousands of Santas will take over Cincinnati over the weekend because SantaCon is back. The event was canceled last year because of the pandemic, having a big impact on local businesses, including Cappel’s.

“Last year it was virtually nothing. I mean, what we sold was just about zero,” owner Ray Cappel said. “This year, there’s a lot of excitement to it. It’s sort of like the Halloween of Christmas.”

SantaCon runs from noon to midnight on Saturday, December 11, and year after year, people tend to be last-minute shoppers.

“I can’t tell you how many people will come here Saturday, buy a Santa suit, will put it on in our store, and be off,” Cappel said.
