Greetings Vampira darlings and the curious. Many know that TV's first horror host had some dark experiences. However not many know the full extent of the story from when she battled for her life against a psychotic rapist. Maila Nurmi (12/11/22 - 1/10/08) was first famous as a statuesque blonde pin-up and swimsuit model in the early 1950s. During this time she created the character Vampira. Soon her television and movie career was well underway. In 1956 between TV horror hosting jobs in Los Angeles, Maila moved to New York City. One day a stranger appeared at her door. This man attacked her and threatened to kill her. The fight over her body and life was monumental, shocking, and graphic. This is that story.
