Today we're making Tang Yuan, aka glutinous rice balls, aka sweet rice balls aka DELICIOUS CHINESE DESSERT, If you’ve never had any rice based desserts, this is a must try! They are soft, chewy and packed full of flavour. Today we’re using black sesame and peanut filling, but the possibilities are endless! Recipe
------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
o 1 ½ glutinous rice flour
o 1 cup of water (½ hot ½ warm)
o 2 Tbsp ground black sesame
o 2 Tbsp crushed roasted peanuts
o 4 Tbsp sugar (separated)
o 4 Tbsp coconut oil (separated)
o 1 Thumb of ginger
o 2 Tbsp brown sugar


Filling:
o Combine black sesame, 2 Tbsp of coconut oil, 2Tbsp of sugar, mix until well incorporated
o Combine peanuts, 2 Tbsp of coconut oil, 2Tbsp of sugar, mix until well incorporated
o Roll into ½ inch balls and freeze for 30 minutes

Dough:
o Mix glutinous rice flour and water until well combined
o Knead for 3-5 minutes until smooth
o **Add more water if too dry, add more flour if too wet
o Roll into 1 inch rounds
o Cover with a damp paper towel to prevent from drying out

Wrapping:
o Gently flatten dough into circles and spread out the edges
o Fill with ball of filling and carefully wrap to cover all filling
o Roll in hands gently to cover any creases
o Set aside and cover with damp paper towel to prevent drying
o Freeze any rice balls that are not being cooked

Cooking:
o Bring 4 cups of water to a boil
o Drop in rice balls
o Once boiling at 1 cup of cold water, bring to a boil again. Repeat 3 times
o Transfer rice balls to a bowl

Broth:
o Boil 2 cups of water
o Add 2 thumb of sliced ginger and 2 Tbsp of brown sugar
o Mix until well combined
o Let simmer for 10-15 minutes
o Add to rice balls
