mahmudur rahman manna is a bangladeshi politician and media personality. [1] he is the former organizing secretary of the bangladesh awami league. [2] he is former vice-president of dhaka university central students union (daksu), and former general secretary of chittagong university central students' parliament (chaksu) of chittagong university.

early and personal life
manna was born in bogra. his father's name is afsar uddin ahmad and his mother is mehr akhtar. she is married to mehr nigar.

education life
higher secondary from dhaka college in 1968. he then joined chittagong university in economics. in 1976, he joined the mathematics and library science department of dhaka university. the masters were not done later as they were busy with politics.

politics
in 1968, he became the convenor of the students' league. chaksur was elected gs in 1972. zasad is the general secretary of the students league in 1973 and the central president of the jasad students league in 1976. daksur was elected vp after coming to dhaka in 1979. in 1980, he formed the bangladesh socialist party, basad. from 1983 to 1990, he became active in the anti-ershad movement. then, in 1991, he joined the bangladesh awami league and served as organizing secretary of the awami league in bangladesh during an eleven government discussed in 2007. he was dropped from the post of awami league in bangladesh in 2009. he is currently active as the leader of the national unity front as the convenor of civil unity.

work life
he is the co-founder and convenor of civil unity of bangladesh's civil society. he also actively participated in the media as a political negotiator.

criticism
the wall street journal described him as a "huge critic of the government." he was arrested after a conversation record was leaked in which he was told whether he would agree to speak to an army officer? the officer's name was not revealed. [5] he was arrested by the rapid action battalion on february 25, 2015,[6] during a conversation with bangladesh nationalist party leader sadiq hossain khoka, he called for a strong movement against the bangladesh awami league government. he later came under severe criticism after the audio was leaked. the national human rights commission bangladesh had called for his arrest. civil unity later called for his release. former prime minister khaleda zia also demanded her release. he was released on bail in November 2016.
