In this video, I go into a little more about shell shapes and genetics on some of the different Islands
what's the difference between Captive Breed and and Imported from the country of origin

Aldabra tortoises are endemic from the islands of the east coast of Africa most popular Seychelles and Mauritius
However, there are several Islands and there are several Farms that produce them.
The populations on these islands have been genetically separated from each other long enough to create a lot of diversifications in Eye color, shell shape
and other physical dimorphisms.

USA Captive Breed Aldabras come from much smaller collections and thus share a much smaller
genetic pool and do not show the same level of diversity as animals imported from endemic native collections.
these facilities breed many Aldabars each year they sell off a part of each year's hatchlings
However, they have an active program where they are being reintroduced in the wild, in a repopulation effort.
