In this video I explain the differences between a Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) and a Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) in a flyback switching power supply (SMPS). CCM and DCM modes also apply to an inductor of a non-isolated converter (buck regulator, boost regulator or a voltage inverter) and to the output inductor of a forward switching power supply or the output inductor of a half-bridge, a bridge or a push-pull.
