They say that timing is everything. This is certainly true when it comes to diving the camouflage grouper spawning in Fakarava, French Polynesia.

These fish wait for the perfect conditions to release their tiny eggs: lots of light from a big full moon and lots of water rushing out of the atoll into open ocean.

So timing your dive entry with these factors in mind is critical. This heightened awareness of timing adds a different kind of feeling to the experience... we all shared this kind of a collectively nervous excitement together in the moments leading up to entering the water that day.
