The Most Common Lies and Excuses Drug Addicts Use

Addiction is horrible for everyone involved, especially friends and family of the person struggling. I don't sugar coat addiction. During active addiction drug addicts will lie, cheat, steal and justify anything to get that next hit. The drug literally takes over their brain and body and they go into survival mode to get more.

I lied and justified my behavior to everyone. More than trying to convince others I was trying to convince myself. Most justifications are not for others but for ourselves.

Knowing these excuses and justifications can help people know the signs and lies to look for. If you hear these excuses don't let the person slide. Don't just give them money and enable them. Talk to them about their issue and see if they will get help.
