Let me talk to you about how the new Aristocratic rulers of the Capitalist Hierarchy have become the dominant class in society. It's imperative to inherit money first and foremost. That or you can have a given name or status which sets you apart. A famous or wealthy parent gives you basically a layup. You'll get a slam dunk if you've got somebody in your family supporting you.
It's not always the entrepreneurs who get the status. I mean if we lived in a true meritocracy then there would be sort of a tabula rasa. A neutral position that everybody starts from. However, it was Rosseau who said:
"People are born free and everywhere enslaved."
I think that there are few instances of those who have been able to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps."
However, it flies directly in the face of the meritocratic capitalist values when people inherit their wealth.
