"Selinute" [AR R5] is the live recording of one of the most intimate configurations of the multifaceted composer, multi-instrumentalist and conductor Tiziano Popoli.
On the evening of October 30, 2022, Popoli invited the guitarist and vocalist Paolo Venturi and the percussionist Paolo Modugno to take part, for a very special occasion, in a "ritual" impro session. The occasion was the presentation at the La Venere theater in Savignano (a structure attached to the archaeological museum which, not by chance, houses one of the most important statuettes of mother goddesses) of the Selinute project by Roberto Baldazzini.

The release of the album, scheduled for Friday 19 April 2024 and on the occasion of which a release party and the first extensive exhibition on the Selinute project will be organized at Fluart in Bologna, is preceded by the single 'Prima Danza'.

The incarnation of the character Selinute will be anticipated by the presentation of the video clip of the second song of the album, 'Prima Danza'. In the short film that anticipates the sounds of Selinute, director Giulio Di Mauro started from a re-editing of an unpublished short film directed by Roberto Baldazzini and Denny Lugli in the late 1990s which filmed the cutting of a centuries-old larch in the street of the house her. By juxtaposing original images and footage of the musicians during the recording of the song, the intent was to create an intimate and worldly environment in which to evoke the abstract figures of Selinute and her graphic pantheon.

Tiziano Popoli, through a long compositional work which was performed in the surrealist jam session of Savignano (then refined by careful mixing work), created an evocative soundtrack of the world that Roberto Baldazzini had created in a highly symbolic way and personal. The video of 'Prima Danza', together with Baldazzini's tables and video installations, is the visual documentation.

'Prima Danza' is a dilated blues that lends its circular structure to a narrative that recalls the most lyrical moments of Nurse With Wound or a certain kraut rock. The Middle Eastern percussions of Paolo Modugno, former stage partner of Ali Akhbar Shekarcì and Mohssen Namjoo, guide the listener through ancient landscapes described by Popoli's synths and interpreted by the voice and guitar of Paolo Venturi (formerly

Italian representative in the Blues Foundation of Memphis). Echoes of Hammond and caresses of slide guitar act as a counterpoint to a psychedelic crescendo in which the underlying tension is unable to completely cover the enchantment of Selinute's gaze and her dance.
