How to Make a Light Up Acrylic LED Sign

I made this light-up acrylic LED sign for my neighbor down the street at Rob's Wood Shop - Daycare for Adults!

Supplies:
Clear Acrylic Sheet
RGB LED Light Kit
3/4" Maple
1/2" Walnut
Spray Lacquer
Wood Glue

Drill Press
Sanding Pads

Instructions for Making the LED Light Up Sign:
1. Import the logo into Easel and reverse it.
2. Carve the reversed logo into the back of the acrylic sheet about .01" deep.
3. Cut two 3/4" strips of walnut the same width of the sign.
4. Cut one 3" strip of maple about 3" longer than the sign.
5. Carve a groove into the center of the maple board that is about 1/2" shorter than the width of the sign. Drill a hole for the electrical wire partially through the board. This will allow the LEDs to be recessed, so the corners of the sign will rest on the surface of the maple. Drill a hole from the rear of the base to meet up with the first hole.
6. Cut two small end pieces of walnut and glue all of the pieces together making sure the sign will fit snugly.
7. Finish as desired.
8. Feed the LED strip into the recess, then stick the self adhesive strip down into the groove so it is centered.
9. Plug in the electronics, turn out the lights, and use the remote to try out your new LED sign!
