We don't have OCD! Was your OCPD misdiagnosed? Episode 011

On the low end, an estimated three million people in the United States alone are estimated to have obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Yet, so few people have ever heard of the disorder and only a handful of people are ever officially diagnosed. Reasons ranging from not seeking help, ignorance about the disorder or not being honest with oneself contribute to the fact that an OCPD diagnosis is uncommon. Today though we will discuss one specific reason contributing to the low numbers of people diagnosed. Let's talk about misdiagnosis, the frequency with which it happens, and the lasting effects of being officially labeled with a mental disorder that you do not genuinely have.
