Entally (also spelt Entali) is a neighbourhood of Central Kolkata, in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It was considered close to the area which was home to the poor and the depressed castes.[1] Mother Teresa started her activities in Entally.[2] Henry Louis Vivian Derozio (Born18 April 1809 in Entally, Died 26 December 1831 in Entally), was an Indian poet of English and Portuguese origin and assistant headmaster of Hindu College, Kolkata. He was a radical thinker of his time and one of the first Indian educators to disseminate Western learning and science among the young men of Bengal. Entally was also the centre of movements for social justice and cultural development of the non-higher caste Hindus, Dalits and minorities. It was one of the prime place where people have raised their voice for social justice for the 1st time in the history of Indian social reforms way back to British colonial rule in India.
